If you missed the boat on visiting Greece this summer and can't wait till the next one, then fear not! This winter you can embark on an island hopping adventure in the Aegean while avoid the usual crowds!

Athens will serve as your introduction to contemporary Greek culture. The modern metropolis combines every modern amenity with a rich array of ancient monuments. Trying to see every major point of interest on your short time in Athens can prove to be an impossible task, so on your first full day in the city, you will join a half-day tour of Athens, the best way to condense millennia of history in a single morning! On your second day you will veer off to the heartland of Greece with a day trip to Delphi in order to visit the archaeological site where the famous Oracle and Temple of Apollo once stood.

Time to begin the island hopping part of your adventure! Sail into the blue waters of the Aegean Sea to reach Naxos, one of the more prominent culinary places in all of Greece, with its cheeses and wines being an indispensable part of Greek cuisine. Naxos is also steeped in history and tradition. Numerous mountain villages are sprinkled around the island and can offer insights on a way of life that you just can't find in large cities. As for sightseeing, there are plenty of options from the Gate of Portara, the Old Town and the citadel rising above it, the temple dedicated to the goddess of fertility Demeter and various ruins of aqueducts and sanctuaries that one can find on every corner of the island!

Once you've had your first Aegean experience, you will proceed to Santorini, undoubtedly the most famous out of all the islands of Greece. Great food, stunning sunsets and an incomparable view are just some of the highlights one inevitably expects when visiting the island. Charming villages like Oia and Kamari are worth exploring in depth, while the pre-historic settlement of Akrotiri can add a touch of history to your islandic adventure. If you find yourselves there, make sure to go a bit further and reach the edge of the island to take a picture in front of Santorini's iconic lighthouse!
