Athens - Naxos - Santorini

Duration: 10 Days / 9 Nights
Destinations:
Red fishing boat on the beach in Naxos
Package rate per person in double room during low season From 1445

A budget-conscious package for travelers that wish to get to combine relaxing destination with popular islands and experience a dual side of Greece. Your exploits begin in Athens, a European metropolis still bearing the marks of a great civilization in every corner. Wandering through the Athenian narrow streets will take you to art galleries, ancient ruins, traditional taverns, museums, hip bars and luxurious restaurants. In short, no matter what your heart's desire, Athens is bound to satisfy it. The half day tour will give you an idea of what to explore on your leisure time.

Your first taste of the Aegean comes in Naxos, an island interweaved with Cycladic tradition, where can still find locals in traditional dress, using old looms and living life as if time has left the island untouched for decades. There, you will also discover some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. Whether, you enjoy luxurious catamaran tours or exploring small villages on the mountainside, good times are sure to be had in Naxos. Next stop on your trip is Santorini, for a more worldly view in the backdrop of immense natural beauty. The dormant volcano has been filled with water creating a spectacular sight in the form of a caldera. Alas, it has left its mark on the island with the town of Thira perched on the edge of a hill and the beaches surrounding it decorated with volcanic pebbles of different colors. These natural wonders made the view of the sunset on the island a necessary experience.

Why not enrich this experience by also visiting Crete?

If you are lucky, you might even get to be invited to a traditional Naxian home-cooked meal! In the main town of Chora, the Kastro ditrict houses the Old Market as well as a Venetian-style neighborhood with a castle! There are many museums featuring archaeological discoveries and traditional artifacts on the island for those looking to learn more about Naxos’ history and standing within the ancient world. Last but not least, beaches like Pyrgaki, Kastraki and Agios Prokopios are well worth a visit if you feel like taking a dip in the Aegean Sea!

  • Days 7 & 8 – Santorini
Two days may not be enough to do everything there is to do in Santorini, but that shouldn’t stop you from trying! On the south end of the crescent-shaped island lies the archaeological site of Akrotiri, and the Museum of Prehistoric Thira features a multitude of exciting exhibits. The village of Oia on the north side arguably offers the best view of the golden Santorinian sunset and on the way there you can always find quaint little vineyards and taste some local wine. Around the island, there are unique beaches formed by volcanic activity on the island, with the Red & White beach, as well as Vlychada, being highlights. Perhaps the best way to experience as much of Santorini as possible in a short amount of time would be to join a sunset sailing cruise on a catamaran.
