Athens - Zakynthos - Cephalonia

Duration: 8 days / 7 nights
Destinations:
Navagio beach in Zakynthos
per person in double room during low season From 1298

Prepare yourselves for an island hopping adventure that will set you apart from most visitors in Greece! Take the road less travelled in the azure waters of the Ionian Sea, by visiting two islands that have been immensely popular with Greeks for decades; Zakynthos and Cephalonia.

Start your adventure in Athens, the cradle of Western civilization, with a tour that will expose you to the most important sites in the city within just a few hours! Visit the Acropolis, Hadrian's Arch, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and many more in what has come to be known as the most efficient way to see the city's historical importance through the ages.

Time to change gears and land on the island of Zakynthos. Dubbed 'the Flower of the East' Zakynthos is more than the iconic Navagio Beach. Heavily influenced by Italian and Hellenic culture, Zakynthos - or Zante, as the Italians call it - is an amalgamation of the two great civilizations, taking the best traits of each one to craft its own unique identity. From there you will move to the nearby Cephalonia, where you should take time to explore the multitude of picturesque villages spread all around the island. From Lixouri to Fiskardo you will find magnificent landscape, friendly people, locally produced treats and a cozy atmosphere that will give you pause. In Cephalonia, an early morning visit to the spectacular Melissani Cave is highly recommended!

  • Day 4 – Explore Zakynthos
Heavily influenced by the Venetians, as well as the Hellenic world, Zakynthos is a rare amalgamation of cultures. The ‘Flower of the East’ as the Venetians used to call it, offers activities for every taste, but perhaps none will ever be as quintessential as visiting Navagio Beach. A secluded white sand beach surrounded by steep tall cliffs while azure waves gently lick the shore sounds stunning enough on its own. However, what sets this beach apart from any other place in the world is the wreck of a contraband ship that washed ashore decades ago and nowadays serves to decorate the bay.
    Overnight: Zakynthos
    Meals: Breakfast

  • Day 5 - Arrival in Cephalonia
Transfer from your hotel to the port of Agios Nikolaos in order to catch the ferry boat to Cephalonia. Upon arrival at the Pessada port you will meet our local collaborator and be transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the island as you wish.

  • Day 6 - Cephalonia
You will have a whole day to explore as much of Cephalonia as you can. We’d recommend you start the day with a visit to the Melissani Cave, as the early morning light pouring through the natural skylight, creates a spectacular sight. On the north edge of the island you will find the village of Fiskardo, a place preferred by locals for its beautiful waterfront. End your day in Lixouri with a glass of local wine in your hand as you gaze the lights of the town reflected on the Ionian Sea.
    Overnight: Cephalonia
    Meals: Breakfast
