This tour journeys you in island's farming and culinary trails with an intimate perspective of contemporary Crete. Our first stop will come near the small village of Astrikas, where the Biolea Estate is located. An ecological prototype farm cultivated by 6th generation owners that promote the traditional way of organic olive oil production, our trip to Biolea will offer insights on a combination of tradition and innovation that create a truly unique product. Stone mills and presses are utilized in Biolea, whose entire product line is estate-produced and bottled. This makes the Estate environmentally accountable as the owner strive to promote sustainable tourism.
Continuing our exploration through a verdant landscape with orange and olive groves, we will visit the quaint Nostos Winery. The realization of a lifelong dream of a Greek-American owner Mr. Manousakis, who was born and raised in the small village of Vatolakkos on the slopes of the White Mountains. The soil there is rich in clay and argil, which combined with the Mediterranean climate, gives rise to the ideal conditions for the production of delicious grapes. Escorted by an expert, you will navigate around the grounds of the winery and then taste their excellent wines.
Finally, after driving along the foothills of the White Mountains, we will reach a family-run tavern in a beautiful setting and enjoy a traditional Cretan meal before hitting the scenic routes of the Therisso Gorge and make our way back to your hotel in the late
afternoon.
