After a wait of 12 years, Mount Olympus has been accepted by UNESCO into the World Heritage Site list!
An ever-present emblem of Hellenism, Mount Olympus is not only famous as the mythological home of the Greek Gods, but as a region of diverse terrain, climate and vegetation. For both these reasons, UNESCO decided to include Mount Olympus into its prestigious list, making it the 21st Greek site on it.
This is an important development for the present and future of the cultural development of the country, as it is the second year in a row a Greek monument has been accepted on the list, leaving hopes for more to come in the following years!
