The valley of Meteora
Package rate per person in double room From 2066

This winter trip focuses on spirituality that transcends time and historically brings people together. You will split your days between the Oracle of Delphi, where ancient Greeks worshiped Apollo and the monasteries of Meteora, a testament to Christian devotion. Starting in Athens, you will have the chance to explore that vast metropolis on your own, and even get a head start on the spiritual leg of your journey by visiting the Parthenon, dedicated to the goddess Athena. Once you have sufficiently explore the Greek capital you will be ready to head off to Delphi with your personal driver who will be there to assist you every step of the way.

Once in Delphi, you will have ample time to explore the ruins of the famous Oracle, a sacrosanct place in the ancient Greek world. The Oracle stood in a subterranean chamber inside the Temple of Apollo and its significance cannot be understated. The high priestess would serve as a consult for heads of city states on political, military and even personal matters. Every step you take around the site of Delphi betrays this, as the existence of various treasuries, a stadium and an amphitheater show that it was a major caltural hub.

Your next stop through time will be the Byzantine Empire and the advent of Christianity. The monasteries of Meteora begun being built during the mid-14th century, even though hermit monks had lived in caves in the area for centuries. Sitting on top of gigantic rock formations, this gave the monasteries a natural way of protecting their inhabitants from invaders. Nowadays a testament of human ingenuity and perseverance, the imposing image of the Meteora valley will be seared in your memory for the reast of your days!
