New Health Protocols for Traveling to Greece

As we are gradually returning to normalcy, following a tumultuous year and a half, travel is re-entering our lives and Greece is ready to become a major tourist attraction once more! As always, your safety is of utmost importance, so the Greek authorities still have in place certain measures to ensure that traveling to and within Greece is done in a responsible manner.

Fantasy Travel is here to help you navigate through the steps you need to take to travel to Greece starting September 13th 2021, the following guidelines have been issued by the Greek authorities:

Passenger Location Form (PLF)

The Passenger Locator Form (PLF) is a key element in the process. All travellers must complete their PLF until the day before entering the country, providing detailed information on their point of departure, the duration of previous stays in other countries, and the address of their stay while in Greece. In case of multiple stays, they are required to provide the address for the first 24 hours at least. One PLF should be submitted per family.

  • Travelers will receive a confirmation email upon submission of the PLF.
  • Travelers will receive the PLF with their unique Quick Response (QR) code on the day of their scheduled arrival in Greece and will be notified via email (the QR code will be provided in a link in the confirmation email).
  • Travelers boarding or embarking on the previous day of the arrival will be allowed to do so upon showing the confirmation email, since they will receive their QR code during their flight or voyage.

You can fill out the passenger location form here.

International Flights/ Sea Travel

Prior to departure, all travelers must ensure that they carry an acceptable form of certification of their health condition*. Acceptable documents include:

  • A negative antigen (rapid) test result from a laboratory; the test must be taken up to 48 hours before entry.
  • A vaccination certificate issued by a certified authority. A minimum of 14 days must have passed after the conclusion of the vaccination.
  • A certificate of recovery from the SARS-CoV-2 virus infection issued by a public authority or a certified laboratory. The certificate is issued 30 days after the day of the first positive COVID-19 test and is valid for 180 days after it.
  • Proof that the traveler was tested positive with COVID-19 in the past 30 to 180 days. This can be proved either by presenting a positive PCR molecular or an antigen test result performed by an authorized laboratory or a medical certificate confirming that the holder was tested positive with SARS-CoV-2 virus infection.

*The measures apply for adults and children over the age of 12.

All certificates must include the critical information (i.e. number of doses and their respective dates) in English, German French, Italian, Spanish, Russian and the person’s full name must match the name on the passport or any other recognized travel document.

What happens with confirmed cases?

It’s always prudent to prepare for the worst, so in case an infection is confirmed, the Greek state will cover expenses related to hospitalization of visitors suffering from Covid-19 symptoms. This includes transfer to a hospital and medical costs as well as stay in a quarantine hotel if needed. In the event of a confirmed infection, close contacts of the case will be transferred to a separate quarantine accommodation at the expense of the Greek state. Remaining guests will continue their holidays.
